Pastoral Resident

Matt DeGioia was born and raised in Queens, NY. He graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelor’s in Religious Studies, concentrating in Judaic Studies, and recently graduated from the George Washington University Law School. Currently, Matt is pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion degree at Reformed Theological Seminary. Prior to coming on staff, Matt had served in a variety of teaching roles in churches in New York City and Washington, DC. In addition to serving as a Pastoral Resident at The Well, Matt works at a law firm in downtown Silver Spring that specializes in disability law, family law, and other areas of civil litigation. He has also been appointed by the Family Court of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children. Matt has a wide variety of interests, ranging from talking about baseball (including how bad his beloved New York Mets are) to discussing hot-button issues in theology and ethics, to just figuring out why people are so darn complex. Despite all of the activities that he is involved in Matt will always make time to get to know you, so feel free to reach out to him if you ever would like to do lunch!
