God of Promises - A Survey of Genesis

You were made for a relationship with God. You are promised a home with Him now and forever. You were given an eternal inheritance. You are His child covered in overflowing blessing. Our God of promises is faithful to His word, faithful to His people. He redeems the brokenness, transforms our lives, and draws us close to Himself.

In our survey of Genesis, we will learn to walk closely with Him: compelled, held, and transformed by His promises. Today and tomorrow, He is our God and we are His people.

Consider using the following resources to compliment this study:

  • God of Promises Study Guide: This study guide coincides and works in tandem with our sermon series. Use it on your own to go deeper into the Scriptures, or use it with others in your Community Group or 3D.

  • From Eden to Egypt by Alex Duke - The Bible is one story told through dozens of people over thousands of years. As Christians, we know we're supposed to believe this - and so we do. But when we pick up our Bibles, if we're honest, we sometimes lose the thread, especially with some of the strange and obscure happenings in Genesis. Alex Duke will give everyday Christians a guided tour of these wonderful stories so that they'll see - perhaps for the first time - that it's all there for a reason.

  • How to Read Genesis by Tremper Longman III - Longman provides a welcome guide to reading and studying, understanding and savoring this panorama of beginnings--of both the world and of Israel. And importantly for Christian readers, we gain insight into how Genesis points to Christ and can be read in light of the gospel.

  • Genesis: A Commentary by Bruce Waltke - Waltke explores Genesis as “theological literature” while giving attention to the flow and development of the plot and literary structure that shapes the book’s message. He provides helpful exegetical notes that address key theological and social issues.
