Introduction

May God meet us together in worship this morning! Whether we are on Zoom with our Community Groups, others from the church, our neighbors/friends, or on our own, let us worship Him together! Jump into this Zoom Meeting , 10am with one of our Community Groups, if you would like to worship with a few others.

Tips

  • The video will lead you through every aspect of the worship guide. If you’re going through the guide with others, you may want to select someone to lead the time and occasionally pause the video to interact.
  • Everyone may want to have the written guide accessible on a device or printed. Make sure to grab some communion elements (bread/wine/juice) if you have them.
  • If you've got small kids, don't feel bad about the chaos, consider just singing the songs and listening to the sermon. Lessons for kids can be found here

Now, let's turn our attention to our God. We are worshipping Him together this morning, so let us fix our eyes on Him.

Opening Psalm, Sharing + Prayer

Read Psalm 70

Make haste, O God, to deliver me!
O Lord, make haste to help me!
Let them be put to shame and confusion
who seek my life!
Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor
who delight in my hurt!
Let them turn back because of their shame
who say, "Aha, Aha!"
May all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you!
May those who love your salvation
say evermore, "God is great!"
But I am poor and needy;
hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay!

Sermon Scripture Reading (Psalm 42)

As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
My tears have been my food
day and night,
while they say to me all the day long,
"Where is your God?"
These things I remember,
as I pour out my soul:
how I would go with the throng
and lead them in procession to the house of God
with glad shouts and songs of praise,
a multitude keeping festival.
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.
My soul is cast down within me;
therefore I remember you
from the land of Jordan and of Hermon,
from Mount Mizar.
Deep calls to deep
at the roar of your waterfalls;
all your breakers and your waves
have gone over me.
By day the Lord commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life.
I say to God, my rock:
"Why have you forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?"
As with a deadly wound in my bones,
my adversaries taunt me,
while they say to me all the day long,
"Where is your God?"
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again prase him,
my salvation and my God.

Communion, Sharing, Giving, Benediction

Communion

1 Cor 11:23-26

For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

Take the bread and the cup together.

Share

Spend a few minutes sharing in response to the sermon.

  1. How does the gospel directly connect with hope?
  2. What should change in your life? Is there something to rejoice, somewhere to repent, an action to take?

Sing "Great are You Lord"

(Songs + Lyrics are included in the video)

Read 1 Cor 15.54-55

When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
"Death is swallowed up in victory."
"O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
