With Christmas approaching, we wanted to find an opportunity to serve others as Christ’s hands and feet in our city. DC127 is an incredible organization that works with DC area churches to ensure the success of every child in foster care and those at risk of entering into the child welfare system. They work to prevent children from entering the child welfare system by uniting churches to support vulnerable families. We reached out to DC127 to find out if they had any specific needs that our Community Group would be able to meet. 

DC127 connected us with 7 families that needed extra support with items like diapers, clothing, blankets, laundry detergent, baby soap and other household items, grocery store gift cards, books and learning toys. The Well provided a grant to our Community Group to help purchase the needed items and bless these 7 moms and 12 kids with some extra support this month. Our Community Group worked to acquire, organize and prepare these packages for the families in need.

As we deliver these packages of needed items to each family, we have been able to ask for their prayer requests. Some of the moms have just aged out of the foster care system themselves and are working to be able to provide stability for their children. Some are looking for jobs that pay enough to provide for their children, and others are struggling with health challenges. We are thankful that, through DC127, these families benefit from the ongoing support and presence of the body of Christ. We invite others to join us in praying for these incredible single moms and their sweet children, trusting that God alone can meet each need.
