Kara - The Story Behind JUSTlove

Awarenesskara
It wasn’t until I started my first job in Baltimore that I realized the magnitude of sex trafficking & how evident it is here. Here in the United States. Here in our neighborhoods. In our schools & local shopping centers. It is rooted in our culture like cancer cells. It’s multiplying & taking lives. Sure, I learned about the subject in college & how human trafficking it impacts millions of women & children around the world. But while meeting with individuals at my job & hearing their stories, my eyes were opened to how common, how disguised, how destructive & how heart-breaking human trafficking really is.

There is more to be done. This is a spiritual battle.

Call to Action
Christ followers have a vital part in bringing slavery to an end. We clearly see injustice; aren’t we called to action? Jesus cares deeply about injustice. Souls are at stake. We have the ability through prayer to overcome darkness & seek justice and show love, the way that Christ loved us, to the 27 million people in the world who are suffering in slavery.

We must do more than oppose sex slavery. To disrupt the culture of exploitation we must challenge the attitudes that lie behind the demand for illicit sex.” –Nefarious Merchant of Souls.

The Vision
JUSTlove is a social justice community for men & women who are passionate about serving survivors of human trafficking. JUSTlove community members will participate in ANTI-trafficking events, partner with effective & local non-profit programs, and invite & build relationships with individuals in the community who are interested in serving this population

Respond to this Need
Without Christ as the center of this community, in our lives, and in this ANTI-trafficking fight, we are a bunch of “nice people” trying to “do something good.” The core group of this community wants to see the power of the gospel work through us to bring hope and transformation to survivors of injustice and to bring healing to breaking hearts & seeking souls.

Join the Core Team! We are looking for men and women who want to take action together as a Community. I hope some of you will join me on this journey & become passionate about serving alongside survivors, partner with professionals who are doing this work, and learn about how to advocate for this population on a larger scale.

Please feel free to e-mail me (karaeliseh@gmail.com) if you want to join the core team for JUSTlove Community or want to learn more.
