Church,

As many of you know, I recently spent 11 days in the hospital. I am humbled by the love and concern you have shown for Joy and me during this time. It is a blessing to be apart of the family at The Well.

Many of you have asked about my health and I wanted to give you an update. Last week I was diagnosed with Addison’s disease. Addison’s is a disease where the adrenal glands do not produce the proper amount of hormones your body needs to function. I will be on medication for the foreseeable future in order to provide my body with these hormones. I will continue to meet with my team of doctors for the next several months in order to monitor my progress and adjust my medication.

First, let me say my doctors have assured me that I will live a normal life with this disorder. Second, I have been reminded that I am broken. The reality of my physical brokenness has often pointed me to my spiritual brokenness. My only hope in both is Jesus. I knew this before the hospital and I know it now. I can be very hard headed and I need these reminders because I am a sinner. God graciously continues to remind me of my utter dependence on Him.

Lastly, I want to say thank you. You have prayed, brought meals, lent us cars, and much more. It has been encouraging to see the people of God love and support us. I am truly grateful for this community. It is a pleasure to serve along side you.
